The Shippensburg University women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season on Saturday with a 5-2 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division win at Lock Haven.

Jenna Sluymer went unblemished in a singles and doubles victory on the day, claiming a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles and teaming up with
Hannah Wieller for a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Freshman
Brighid Cantwell won a marathon at No. 3 singles, claiming the third-set tiebreaker by an 11-9 margin. Cantwell won the first set, 7-6 (7-3) and rallied to win the tiebreaker after dropping the second set 6-0.

Cantwell and fellow freshman
Jessalyn Morrow teamed up for a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles to give Shippensburg the team point for doubles by virtue of wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 flights.

Kayla Tryanski won No. 4 singles by a 6-1, 6-2 score and
Sahar Islam won No. 5 singles by a 6-2, 6-3 score. Cantwell, Tryanski and Islam notched their first singles victories of the season Saturday.

Skylar Walder went to a third-set tiebreaker in her No. 1 singles match with
Maddy Reeves, winning 10 total games. Walder and fellow freshman
Merel Hoekstra won two games at No. 1 doubles.

Cally Papoutsis won eight games in her match at No. 6 singles.

Shippensburg concludes its regular season Tuesday at Millersville.
