The Shippensburg University indoor track & field teams will compete for the first time since the 2020 PSAC Championships this weekend, heading back to its familiar home away from home -- Bucknell University.Â
The 2021-22 season begins Friday and continues Saturday with the Bison Opener at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
Â
Friday's competition begins at 5 p.m. and is limited strictly to multis competition: the men's heptathlon and the women's pentathlon:
The majority of the competition begins mid-morning Saturday, with the remaining heptathlon events starting at 8:30 a.m. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m.

Â
As is normally the case, the Bison Opener will be Shippensburg's only meet over the next seven weeks. Thus, it is often branded a "thermometer" meet as it provides a gauge for where the team is at and what it hopes to accomplish through its winter training. It also gives the Raiders their first chance to achieve Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks while getting re-acquainted with an indoor venue.
Â
The Shippensburg men's indoor team begins the 2021-22 season in pursuit of its 11th consecutive conference championship.
Â
The Shippensburg women's indoor team begins the 2021-22 season in pursuit of its first conference championship since 2018, having finished fifth in 2020 and third in 2019.Â
Â
A video preview of the team will be available closer to the resumption of the schedule in late January.
