SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team charged to victory on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup on Pink Out Weekend at Heiges Field House. Set scores were 25-22, 26-24 and 25-20.
 
Shippensburg (7-11, 2-3 PSAC East) had two players with double-digit kills. Freshman 
Emily Gardner had her fifth double-double of the season with 15 digs, 12 kills, two aces and hit .314 from the floor. Junior 
Rachel Verhoef had her eleventh double-digit kill output of the season with 10 kills and three blocks; she hit .208 from the floor. Junior 
Oyinda Agbale contributed six kills and two solo blocks.
 
Freshmen 
Lily Letchworth and 
Sabrina Sheppard each worked at setter on the night; Letchworth had 15 assists and Sheppard had 19 assists. Redshirt-sophomore libero 
Alex Leitner led the Raiders with 16 digs and added five assists.
 
West Chester (12-5, 3-3) had two players with three aces each. The Raiders hit .179 compared to .098 for the Golden Rams. SU served 43 kills to WCU's 28 kills.
 
The Golden Rams opened the first set with a 4-1 run but the Raiders would come back and have a five-point run to take the lead early in the first set. The set was tied 22-22, until SU scored the final three points to win the first set with kills from freshman 
Kat Negron and Verhoef. 
 
In the second set, SU and WCU were neck and neck, with both teams going on six-point runs. The set was tied at 24-24 before kills from freshman 
Chelsea Foulis and Verhoef closed it out.
 
In the third set, the Raiders took control and were up 16-9. The Golden Rams went on a 7-1 run to close the gap, but an SU timeout at 18-16 would help the Raiders secure the next four points. Two kills back-to-back from freshman 
Maddie Clabaugh secured the win. SU hit .219 in the third set while the Golden Rams hit .083.
 
Shippensburg is back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a non-conference matchup against Pitt-Johnstown at Heiges Field House.
