The Shippensburg University men's swimming team was victorious on Friday night, defeating Fairmont State by a score of 80-43 in a dual meet hosted by Cal U.
Shippensburg (3-1) won all but two events, as senior
Vin Salvatore and junior
David Bussard each recorded a pair of victories. Bussard swam the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:41.69, and later won the 200-yard backstroke in a conference cut of 2:01.42. Salvatore won the 400-yard IM in a conference cut of 4:24.79 and came right back to win the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.29.
The Raiders posted six Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) cuts on the night, as freshman
Nathan VanNatter won the 100-yard freestyle in 49.35 seconds, senior
Trevor Woolwine won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.30, sophomore
Matthew Beard won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.45 seconds and senior
Matt Bochanski took second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.57.
In relay competition, SU opened the dual meet with Woolwine, Bochanski, senior
Andrew Hale and Beard posting a narrow victory in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:38.12. The meet ended with Woolwine, Beard, junior
Elijah Zinn and Hale completing the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:29.39.
Shippensburg is back in action Nov. 5 at Clarion.
