The Shippensburg University volleyball team continued its Mountain East Conference (MEC) crossover schedule on Friday with a pair of big victories, defeating Notre Dame (Ohio) in four sets before dispatching host West Liberty in five sets, the final frame being 15-13, in action from the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).

Shippensburg (8-1) dispatched Notre Dame (8-2) by scores of 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17) before having to rally to defeat West Liberty (4-4) by scores of 27-25, 21-25, 22-25, 25-19 and 15-13. The fifth set was tied 9-9 before a three-point run helped the Raiders gain some space en route to the win.

SU received banner performances from senior
Gabriella Johnson and junior
Emily Hangen. Johnson was credited with 35 kills and 57 digs over the course of two matches, including an 18-kill, career-high 31-dig outing against the Hilltoppers. Hangen combined for 110 assists over the two matches – she had 57 assists and 24 digs against Notre Dame before coming right back with 53 assists and 26 digs against the Hilltoppers.

Samantha Webber and
Kendall Johnson continued their dynamic work in the middle. Webber finished the day being credited with 27 kills and six blocks, while
Kendall Johnson tallied 24 kills and five blocks.

Junior
Gianna Sigado continues to emerge; she finished Friday with 21 kills and 38 digs. Sigado recorded her first career double-double against West Liberty, totaling career highs of 12 kills and 20 digs. Junior
Alana Pergine chipped in with 16 kills, eight in each match.

Freshman
Maria Lucas stepped up as the libero, totaling 40 digs. Lucas had a career-high 24 digs against West Liberty, and passed out four assists in each match.
