SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team could not slow down the visiting Griffins of Seton Hill on Saturday, as the Raiders dropped an 18-10 decision in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on a sunny afternoon at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (4-6, 2-4 PSAC) fell behind 9-2 through the opening 20 minutes of play but rallied for the final three goals of the first half to get within four goals of Seton Hill (7-5, 5-2) at the intermission. The Griffins, however, scored the first six goals of the second half – keeping the Raiders off the board for 15 minutes to take control of the match.

Sophomore Alana Cardaci continued her offensive prowess with four goals and two assists, marking her fourth consecutive hat trick and her seventh of the season. Cardaci's 36 goals rank fourth in the PSAC this season.

Freshman Gabby Savarino and junior Kami Holt scored twice. Savarino added an assist, two draw controls and a groundball. Senior Kyra Shank and freshman Sydney Costanza also added a goal.

Sophomore Jena MacDonald contributed three assists, bringing her season total to 20 (fifth-most in the PSAC). Senior Madi Newman had one assist and also provided two draw controls and two groundballs.

Senior Valerie Hertz and freshman Julia Leishear combined for seven of SU's nine caused turnovers. Hertz finished with five draw controls, four groundballs and three caused turnovers. Leishear had a team-high four caused turnovers and three groundballs. Sophomore Madi Jones finished with three groundballs.

Freshman Shaely Gamble made 10 saves for the Raiders, including six in the second half. Gamble has recorded 10 or more saves in five matches this season.
