RECAP: Tennis Begins Spring Break Trip With Matches vs. Immaculata, Bloomsburg

SU falls 6-1 to Mighty Macs, 7-0 to Huskies

The Shippensburg University women's tennis team began its Spring Break trip on Sunday with a pair of matches in Orlando, Fla. The Raiders dropped a 6-1 match to Immaculata and a 7-0 match to Bloomsburg that did not count as a conference contest.

Shippensburg won 16 singles games against Immaculata. Senior Gabbie Binder won the first set at No. 3 singles, 7-6, on the strength of a 7-3 tiebreaker. After dropping the second set she battled in the tiebreaker but came up just short, falling 10-7.

Senior Megan Moorhead won five games in her No. 2 singles match. Maria Drake won three games at No. 6 singles.

Moorhead and Binder combined for a win at No. 2 doubles, but it was not reflected in the match score as doubles being one decision was claimed by the Mighty Macs for winning No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

Against the Huskies, senior Kaylin Gallagher won five games in her No. 1 singles match and Drake won five games in her No. 6 singles match. Freshman Kayla Tryanski won three games at No. 4 singles.

In doubles SU won at least two games in all three flights. Binder and Moorhead won three games at No. 1 and Gallagher and Tryanski won three games at No. 2, while Drake and freshman Casey Miller won two games at No. 3.
