BEL AIR, Md. – The Shippensburg University baseball team split a neutral-site doubleheader with Slippery Rock on Monday at Harford Community College, with The Rock claiming a 1-0 victory in eight innings in the opener before the Raiders rallied for a 15-5 victory in the second half of the twinbill.

Shippensburg (2-4) and Slippery Rock (1-2) engaged in a pitcher's duel in the opener, with sophomore
Dalton Oates and Tanner Stanz combining for 12 scoreless innings and 17 strikeouts without allowing an extra-base hit. Oates scattered four singles, walked one, and struck out 10 in six innings.

The difference in the opener was a two-out RBI double into the right-center field gap in the eighth inning by Joe Campagna, and Rock closer Wyatt Daugherty struck out five of the six batters he faced to get the win in relief.

Shippensburg scored 15 runs on 12 hits in Game 2, leaving only three runners on base. The No. 3 through No. 5 hitters – senior

Scout Knotts – each hit a three-run homer and combined for 11 RBIs. Goertzen was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs, Darden was 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, four RBIs and two runs, and Knotts smacked his three-run homer. Â

Lake Lloyd was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and sophomore
Chase Zurawski smacked an RBI-double. Senior
Ty Painter walked twice and scored two runs.

Tommy Baggett was 2-for-3 with a walk and four runs.

Noah Inch got the win, striking out a career-high 10 batters in five innings. Inch allowed two runs on four hits, walking two. Senior
