RECAP: Volleyball Gets Another Road Sweep, Defeating Bloomsburg 3-0

SU hits .287 in the victory

The Shippensburg University volleyball team defeated Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent Bloomsburg on Saturday morning in straight sets from Nelson Field House by set scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-20.
 
Shippensburg (23-4, 15-1 PSAC) hit .287 in the victory, totaling 41 kills and seven service aces. Senior Kendall Johnson led the Raider offense with nine kills, adding three block solos and two block assists on the day.
 
Bloomsburg (8-21, 3-13) closed in late in the opening frame, going on a six-point run late in the set. The Huskies played point-for-point with the Raiders in the second set, but were ultimately unable to overcome the SU attack, which hit .483 that frame.
 
In the second set, senior Gabriella Johnson put together a five-point service run to give the Raiders a solid lead. She notched eight kills, adding five digs and one ace on the day. Fellow senior Samantha Webber finished with eight kills of her own, hitting .800.
 
Juniors Alana Pergine and Emily Hangen aided in the Raider victory. Pergine provided seven kills, swinging .500 while Hangen had 33 assists, adding three kills and four digs.
 
Senior Megan Forstburg paced the Raiders defensively with 18 digs and three aces.
 
The Raiders are back in action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they take on Shepherd on the road.
