RECAP: Volleyball Sweeps Lock Haven on the Road, 3-0

Raiders serve 10 aces, swing .306 in the win

The Shippensburg University volleyball team shut out Lock Haven on Friday night by set scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-9 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Thomas Field House.
 
Shippensburg (22-4, 14-1 PSAC) totaled 40 kills and 10 service aces while amassing a .306 hitting percentage in three sets against the Bald Eagles. The Raiders used 18 players in the victory.
 
Senior Gabriella Johnson achieved a double-double for the fourth match in a row, and for the 15th time this season. She totaled 10 kills, 12 digs, and had two block assists.
 
Juniors Emily Hangen and Gianna Sigado along with freshman Maria Lucas each served two aces in the match. Hangen tacked on 27 assists, three kills and six digs. She had an 11-point service run in the third set.
 
Senior Kendall Johnson had nine kills without an error and hit .500, while senior Samantha Webber had eight kills and hit .375. Senior Megan Forstburg had a team-high 15 digs.
 
Lock Haven (6-19, 0-15), which put together 12 kills in the first set, went back and forth with the Raiders, evening the score nine times in the opening frame. A six-point service run from Lucas allowed the Raiders to pull away and take the first set.
 
The Bald Eagles challenged again in the second set, besting the Raiders with 15 kills, but were unable to overcome a staunch attack from the Raiders, who swung .361 that set. Lock Haven totaled 28 kills on the night and had 19 errors on 110 total attempts, resulting in a .082 hitting percentage.
 
The Raiders will be back in action tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in another road contest at Bloomsburg.
