SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team fell in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener Tuesday afternoon against Millersville, 2-1, on a wet and dreary day from Fairchild Field.
Â
Shippensburg (9-8, 0-1 PSAC) and Millersville (13-7, 1-0) were scheduled to play a doubleheader but Game 2 was postponed due to weather.
Â
Senior
Gabe Mosser started on the bump for the Raiders, throwing a complete game, surrendering just one earned run while striking out 10 batters. The senior has now recorded 10 strikeouts in back-to-back starts.
Â
Millersville took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Shippensburg error but SU would tie the game in the bottom of the second on a RBI-single from freshman
Scout Knotts that scored junior
Cash Gladfelter.
Â
The Marauders took the lead in the top of the fourth on a RBI-double from Eric Callahan and were able to thwart the Raider bats over the next four innings to secure the win.
Â
Junior
Drew Bene went 1-for-2 on the day with a double. Senior
Grant Hoover singled in the third to account for the third Raider hit.
Â
Shippensburg will return to action Friday at 1 p.m. when it goes on the road to take on Bloomsburg in a PSAC doubleheader.
