The Shippensburg University wrestling team claimed victory in one of its three dual meets on Saturday in its return to action but won at least four bouts in each, as the Raiders competed in the 2018 North-South Duals held inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Field House at Ursinus College.
 
Shippensburg dropped a 22-18 dual meet to the University of Southern Maine and a 22-19 dual meet to Delaware Valley University before closing the afternoon with a 44-3 rout of Camden County College. The Raiders are now 3-2 overall in dual meets this season.
 
Redshirt-senior Evan Ramos and senior Mike Springer each went 3-0 on the day. Ramos recorded three pins, achieving all of them in the second period of his matches. Springer scored two pins and a major decision.
 
Ramos is now 9-1 this season, while Springer improves to 6-2 with five victories by fall.
 
Against Southern Maine, the Raiders received decisions from sophomore Cole Rush at 133 pounds (9-6) and senior Chris Miller at 165 pounds (12-7).
 
Against Delaware Valley, senior Cody Blankenship scored a pin just 13 seconds into the third period of the 149-pound match. Sophomore Derek Berberick scored a 6-0 decision at heavyweight.
 
The Raiders won nine of the 10 weight classes against Camden County College, claiming two by forfeit. Junior Jared Leonetti scored a 10-1 major decision at 141 pounds, and sophomore Ryan Narber scored a 9-4 decision at 174 pounds. Rush and Miller notched pins, and Berberick recorded a 10-1 major decision.
 
Shippensburg returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 17 for its home opener against East Stroudsburg at 7 p.m. from Heiges Field House. It will be the first of seven PSAC Division II dual meets on the season for the Raiders.
