The Shippensburg University wrestling team split a pair of matches against UNC Pembroke and American International on Saturday afternoon at the 2018 Kutztown University Duals.
 
Shippensburg (6-4) fell to UNC Pembroke (7-9), 32-14, and then defeated American International (0-11), 42-0 on the final day of the duals.
 
Redshirt-senior Evan Ramos recorded two pins on the afternoon, pushing his record to 14-1 on the season. Ramos pinned UNC-Greensboro's Bryce Walker just 36 seconds into the match. Ramos followed it up with a pin in his second match of the day against American International's Raul Martinez in the second period.
 
Sophomore Cole Rush recorded two victories on the day at 141 pounds including a 16-5 major decision over UNC Pembroke's Dustin Smith that gave SU its first four points of the match. Rush won by forfeit at 141 against American International.
 
Sophomore Derek Berberick was the third and final Raider to go 2-0 on the afternoon. Berberick recorded a 14-4 major decision over Pembroke's Andrew Colburn in SU's first match.
 
The heavyweight then recorded a 4-2 sudden victory over American International's Jenard Rosemond to round out an undefeated afternoon. The victory over Rosemond was impressive, as the Yellowjacket had defeated Kutztown's No. 5-ranked Ryan Appleby the day before, 7-6.
 
SU won all three of the contested bouts against American International and tallied four wins by forfeit against the Yellowjackets.
 
Shippensburg returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts East Stroudsburg in a re-scheduled conference dual meet from Heiges Field House.
