The Shippensburg University volleyball team remained unbeaten in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Friday night with a convincing road victory at Edinboro, winning in straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-19 to post its first sweep of the Fighting Scots in McComb Fieldhouse since 1989.

Shippensburg (10-5, 3-0 PSAC) ended a streak of eight consecutive matches with Edinboro (11-3, 1-2) that had been played to five sets. It is also the first time that the Raiders have swept the Fighting Scots since the NCAA switched to 25-point sets (2008); SU's last sweep of Edinboro came in 2004 at Heiges Field House.

The Raiders posted a .260 hitting percentage as no players hit in the negative. Sophomore
Samantha Webber led all players with 14 kills, swinging an excellent .478, to go along with three block assists. Junior
Morgan DeFloria added 10 kills, nine digs and two block assists.

Kendall Johnson had three kills and led SU with five blocks – including two solo. Fellow sophomore
Gabriella Johnson had seven kills, nine digs and four block assists.

Courtney Malott had five kills without an error plus five digs. Freshman
Emily Hangen was credited with 33 assists and recorded 10 digs. Sophomore
Megan Forstburg led the Raiders with 13 digs on the night.

The first set was tied 14-14 before Shippensburg went on a 3-0 run – the Fighting Scots ended up trailing by at least two points for the remainder of the set. Shippensburg used a 16-4 run in the second set to flip a 6-3 deficit into a 19-10 lead. In the final frame, SU scored 10 of the final 15 points to claim the victory.

Edinboro was blocked nine times by the Raiders and also had 10 service errors. The Fighting Scots swung under .100 as a team, but did receive a double-double (12 kills, 13 digs) from Challen Litwhiler.
