SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team swept a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader Saturday over Mansfield to complete a four-game series sweep on Alumni Day.

Shippensburg (17-16-1, 10-6 PSAC) defeated Mansfield (16-20, 5-11) 3-2 in Game 1 after rallying for two runs in the sixth to secure the win. SU pounded out 17 hits in Game 2 en route to a 22-7 victory that sealed a four-game series sweep.

Senior
Ryan McMillen and junior
Nick Spangler led the Raiders offensively for the second consecutive day. The duo combined to go 8-for-16 on the afternoon driving in six runs and scoring five runs. McMillen fell a triple shy of the cycle in Game 2 while Spangler collected three hits in Game 1.

Sophomore
Cash Gladfelter finished the day 3-for-6 with a double, an RBI and one run scored. Three other Raiders collected multi-hit days including senior
Jake Kennedy, junior
Dalton Hoiles and sophomore
Drew Bene. Kennedy hit his PSAC-leading 15th home run of the year in Game 2 that drove in three.

Mark Curtis started Game 1 for the Raiders, going six innings and collecting the win while sophomore
Michael Hope pitched the seventh to register the save.

Junior
Grant Hoover started Game 2 for the Raiders and collected the win. Three Raiders pitched out of the bullpen in Game 2 including junior
Andy Crum, redshirt-freshman
Zack Sims and freshman
Kyle Lysy.

Shippensburg will return to action Tuesday at 1 p.m. when it will go on the road to take on IUP in a PSAC crossover doubleheader.

Game 1
Â
SU got on the board in the bottom of the first on a Mansfield balk that scored Gladfelter. Mansfield scored one run in the third and fourth innings respectively to take a 2-1 lead.

The Raiders used a two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead. After the first two outs were recorded, SU got back-to-back walks from Hoover and sophomore
Tommy Baggett to put runners on first a second.

SU tied the game when McMillen reached on a fielder's choice and Hoover scored on a throwing error by Mansfield. Baggett advanced to third on the error to put runners on the corners for Spangler.

Spangler delivered in the clutch with a line drive single up the middle that scored Baggett, giving SU a 3-2 lead heading into the seventh.

Hope relieved Curtis in the seventh to record his fourth save of the year. Curtis collected the win, throwing six innings surrendering just one earned run, scattering three hits while striking out three.

Game 2
Â
SU swung the bats early and often in Game 2 to secure a 22-7 victory over Mansfield. Five Raiders collected multi-hit games with 11 Raiders recording at least one hit.

McMillen finished the game 3-for-3 and a triple shy of the cycle. The senior reached base five times, driving in a game-high five runs while scoring three runs. Gladfelter went 2-for-3 driving in one and scoring two runs.
Kennedy's three-run home run came in fourth, pushing the SU advantage to 13-2. The senior first baseman finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Junior
Dalton Hoiles and freshman
Jacob Pollock were the other two Raiders to collect multi-hit games. Both Hoiles and Pollock finished 2-for-3 with Hoiles driving in three and Pollock driving in one.

Freshman
Joe DeMarco collected his first collegiate hit with a double down the right-field line in the sixth. Sophomore
Danny Johnson tallied two RBIs in the sixth with a line drive double to left-center field.

Hoover collected the win for SU going four innings surrendering two runs, scattering six hits and recording one strikeout. Sims pitched the fifth for SU recording one strikeout. Crum pitched a clean sixth and Lysy finished the game for SU in the seventh.
