Morgan DeFloria became the ninth player in school history to record 1,000 kills in a career on Friday night, but the Shippensburg University volleyball team dropped a four-set road match to California (Pa.), 26-24, 9-25, 22-25, 15-25 from the Cal U Convocation Center.

Shippensburg (19-8, 11-3 PSAC) has had to adjust its lineup due to injuries, with junior right side
Courtney Malott currently being pressed into the setter role for the Raiders. Malott had a game effort, contributing six kills, a .455 hitting efficiency, eight digs and 31 assists. SU had 20 of its 44 kills in the first set, with Malott totaling 14 of her 31 assists in the frame.

California (14-11, 8-6) rallied to take the second set convincingly, but the match was still up for grabs late in the third set. The frame was tied 21-21, but the Vulcans won four of the final five points to take the decisive 2-1 edge.

SU sophomore
Samantha Webber led all players with 13 kills; she also hit .290 from the floor on 31 attempts. DeFloria finished with 11 kills and 14 digs for her third straight double-double and her 13th of the season.

Gianna Sigado received a start Friday night and finished with six kills, nine digs and three assists. Sophomore
Gabriella Johnson had four kills, seven digs and four block assists, while sophomore
Kendall Johnson also had four kills and four block assists.

Megan Forstburg led all players with 22 digs.

Shippensburg is at Seton Hill tomorrow for a 1 p.m. matchup. The Griffins are ranked fifth in the Atlantic Region.
