Webber paces SU attack with match-high 14 kills

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team extended its win streak to seven matches on Saturday afternoon by defeating Kutztown, 3-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg (13-5, 6-0 PSAC) dropped just one set to Kutztown (5-13, 0-6), marking the first set the Raiders lost since the second set against Gannon on September 22. SU took the first set 25-18, dropped the second set 22-25, and took the final two sets 25-15 and 25-20 respectively.

Through three weeks of conference play, Shippensburg is the only remaining team with an unbeaten record in PSAC matches.

Sophomore Samantha Webber paced the Raiders offensively, tallying a match-high 14 kills while hitting at a .194 clip. Two other Raiders recorded double-digit kills in the win including junior Morgan DeFloria and sophomore Gabriella Johnson. Freshman Emily Hangen registered a match-high 42 assists. Hangen also tallied four kills on just eight attempts. Sophomore Kendall Johnson finished with a .320 hitting percentage while recording nine kills.

SU had three players with 19 or more digs including DeFloria, junior Courtney Malott and sophomore Megan Forstburg. Forstburg led SU with 20 digs.
