Volleyball Makes it Eight Straight, Defeating Millersville, 3-1

SU improves to 7-0 in conference play with four-set win over Marauders

The Shippensburg University volleyball team won its eighth straight match on Tuesday night, as the Raiders traveled to Millersville and recorded a 3-1 victory in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match from Pucillo Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-19, 16-25, 25-18, 25-20.

Shippensburg (14-5, 7-0 PSAC) remained the only unbeaten squad in PSAC play behind the strength of a .214 hitting percentage and a defense that limited Millersville (11-4, 4-3) to a .118 efficiency and 28 attack errors. SU also out-blocked Millersville, 8-3.

Sophomore Samantha Webber had 13 kills to just one error, hitting .480, and contributed three blocks. Junior Morgan DeFloria also had 13 kills, swinging .182, to go along with nine digs and three blocks.

Sophomore Kendall Johnson had seven kills, five blocks and hit .214. Redshirt-junior Courtney Malott had six kills and nine digs, while sophomore Gabriella Johnson also had six kills.

Sophomore Megan Forstburg led all players with 17 digs and served two of SU's four aces on the night. Freshman Gianna Sigado also had two aces, and contributed to a 5-0 service run early in the third set.

Freshman setter Emily Hangen, the reigning PSAC Central Division Player of the Week as announced earlier in the day, finished with 38 assists, 15 digs, two block assists and two kills without an error.

Shippensburg is at Cheyney at 7 p.m. Friday before taking on West Chester the next day at 4:30 p.m.
