SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University football team will conclude a three-game homestand by welcoming the East Stroudsburg Warriors to SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium on Parents & Family Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

There are a significant number of events planned for Saturday's game, including:

ALUMNI GATHERING: Dr. Tony Winter, SU Hall of Famer and associate dean of the John L. Grove College of Business, has organized a large gathering of Red Raider Football Alumni who will be in attendance for Saturday's game. The 2016 campaign is a significant anniversary for Red Raider football — it marks the 25-year reunion of the 1991 team that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the 35-year reunion of the 1981 team that reached the NCAA Semifinals, and the 40-year reunion of the 1976 team that tied East Stroudsburg in the PSAC State Game. Members of other classic and championship teams will be in attendance, and many will be recognized at the start of halftime.

RED RAIDER PACK: Running out onto the field behind the Red Raiders at Saturday's game will be the loyal members of the Red Raider Pack, a group comprised of students from the Shippensburg Area School District (grades K-5). More than 100 students have been invited to attend the game, and those in attendance will run through the band tunnel and through to the end zone.

COACHES TO CURE MD WEEKEND: Each year, football coaches unite in support of finding a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed during early childhood. Duchenne affects approximately one out of every 3,500 boys and 20,000 babies born each year worldwide. Attending this Saturday's game will be Ethan Pyles, a 14-year old boy and huge football fan who is courageously fighting Duchenne. Ethan will be on the field for the coin toss and present on the sidelines during the game. Through the national initiative by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), fans can text CURE to 9-0-9-9-9 this weekend to donate $5 in the pursuit of a cure for Duchenne.

PARENT & FAMILY WEEKEND: Each year, a special weekend is marked for parents of SU students to attend a football game as part of "Family Weekend." This is that weekend. The SU Activities Program Board (APB) has numerous events planned throughout the day and the weekend. A full list of those events is available HERE.

ABOUT THE GAME: Saturday's football matchup just happens to be the first encounter between East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg since last year's five-overtime affair, won by the Red Raiders (69-67), which stands as the longest game in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) history.

More information about Saturday's game is below:

Series History
Shippensburg holds a 31-18-2 advantage in the series, including an 18-7-1 mark at home. SU has won six of the last seven meetings and 13 of the last 16 overall. Coach Mark 'Mac' Maciejewski is 4-1 all-time versus the Warriors.

There have been plenty of points involved in the matchup as the winner has scored at least 37 points in the eight of the last nine meetings. Up until last year's epic 69-67, five-overtime classic, SU's 63 points in 2012 had been the most scored by either team in the history of the matchup.

Last Week
Shippensburg ran for 334 yards and controlled time of possession in the second half, finishing with 27 unanswered points en route a 41-17 victory over visiting Clarion on a muggy afternoon at SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. SU trailed 17-14 with 3:29 left before halftime but countered with 17 points before the intermission, including 10 points in the final three seconds of the first half. SU limited the Golden Eagles to just 10 rushing yards and held the visitors scoreless over the final 33 minutes.

East Stroudsburg traveled to Mercyhurst and got a school-record 292 yards from scrimmage by its tailback Robert Healy to defeat the Lakers, 34-31. Healy, who is really good at football, tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns and had a career-high 30 carries while adding two receptions for 36 yards for the Warriors, who overcame a 14-3 second-quarter deficit to beat the Lakers. ESU and SU were the only two East teams to win in Week 3.

Success at Seth Grove
The Red Raiders have gone 23-7 in home games at Seth Grove Stadium under Coach Maciejewski. SU has scored at least 17 points in 29-of-30 home games under Maciejewski, averaging more than 44 points per game since the start of 2011.

SU is 22-2 at home under Mac when it scores 30+ points.

Included in the win total is a school-record 12-game home winning streak that began with a win over ESU on Nov. 5, 2011 and ended Oct. 26, 2013.

Shippensburg won all seven home games in 2012 — a program record and the school's first undefeated season at home since 1999.
