SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team rebounded on Saturday by defeating Salem International, 4-2, in a non-conference matchup at David See Field.
Shippensburg (4-2) started off the scoring with a header from freshman
Jamie Blair in the 14th minute. Blair buried the header off of a free kick from sophomore
Marc Furfaro.
The Raiders took a 2-0 lead into halftime when junior
Jan Striewe deflected home a corner kick taken by senior
Colten Arnold in the 26th minute.
Salem International (1-4) got on the board after Fabricio Costa buried his first goal of the season in the 60th minute. Shippensburg wasted little time in responding and regained their two-goal advantage after a penalty kick was awarded for a Tiger foul in the box. Sophomore
Patrick Luebben delivered his second goal of the season on the penalty.
After a Salem goal trimmed into SU's lead, sophomore
Jake Shefsky tallied the Raiders' fourth goal of the game after finishing off a rebound in the 80th minute.
Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper
Garret Watson registered his fourth win of the year.
Shippensburg will return to action at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Lock Haven.
