SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University football team will continue a three-game homestand by welcoming the Clarion Golden Eagles to SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. It is the first meeting between the two teams since 2011.

The Red Raiders were picked second in the PSAC Eastern Division preseason poll and return 16 starters from last year's team, including the entire offensive line and the entire secondary.

The Golden Eagles were picked fourth in the PSAC Western Division preseason poll and return nine starters who started more than six games last year — including four All-PSAC players. Under second-year head coach Chris Weibel, Clarion has gone 8-5. The team was 2-9 back in 2014.

Series History
Clarion leads the overall series with Shippensburg, 32-21-1, with the Golden Eagles holding an 11-9-1 record in games held at Shippensburg. However, the Red Raiders have won the last nine meetings and 12 of the last 13.

This is the first meeting between the two teams since the 2011 season. In that matchup, Shippensburg played its first home game under head coach Mark 'Mac' Maciejewski and defeated the Golden Eagles, 54-24. SU scored 34 unanswered points in that game, totaled 563 yards on offense and totaled a school-record 33 first downs.

Shippensburg's offense has thrived in the last 14 meetings. With the exception of a 13-0 shutout over Clarion in 2003, the Red Raiders have scored at least 20 points in every game of the series dating back to 1996. Over the last seven meetings, SU has outscored Clarion 252-81.

The Golden Eagles posted a record of 28-6-1 in the series' first 35 games, including 14-straight wins from 1964-77. Shippensburg has turned the tide since 1988, posting a 16-6 record over the last 22 meetings.

Last Week
Shippensburg raced out to a 17-0 lead on Saturday but could not maintain its early momentum, as visiting Gannon ultimately prevailed with a 24-20 decision over the Red Raiders at Seth Grove Stadium. SU scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, reaching paydirt on one-yard touchdown runs, but was kept out of the end zone for the remainder of the contest. The only remaining Red Raider points came on a field goal late in the fourth quarter.

Clarion traveled to Bloomsburg and lost to the Huskies, 35-20. The Golden Eagles were the only Western Division school to lose its crossover for the weekend but they played the Huskies tough. Clarion was held in check to the tune of 356 offensive yards, nearly half of which came on the ground. The Golden Eagles turned the ball over three times in the fourth quarter.

Success at Seth Grove
The Red Raiders have gone 22-7 in home games at Seth Grove Stadium under Coach Maciejewski. SU has scored at least 17 points in 28-of-29 home games under Maciejewski, averaging 44.3 points per game since the start of 2011.

SU is 21-2 at home under Mac when it scores 30+ points.

Included in the win total is a school-record 12-game home winning streak that began with a win over ESU on Nov. 5, 2011 and ended Oct. 26, 2013.

Shippensburg won all seven home games in 2012 — a program record and the school's first undefeated season at home since 1999.
