Lacrosse Falls to Mercyhurst in Season Finale

Jordan Kengor scores two goals; goalkeeper Ally Frymoyer makes 16 saves

The Shippensburg University lacrosse team got 16 saves from junior goalkeeper Ally Frymoyer in its season finale Saturday but could not keep pace with No. 6 Mercyhurst, falling 18-2 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Tullio Field.
 
Shippensburg (3-14, 1-11 PSAC) was led offensively with two goals from freshman Jordan Kengor while Mercyhurst (14-3, 10-2) was paced offensively by Rebecca Himes, who scored five goals.
 
Sophomore Max Barkley continued to thrive in the circle, adding nine more draw controls to her single-season school record that will stand at 96. She finished the regular season leading the PSAC in total draw controls and draw controls per game (5.65).
 
Sophomore Annemarie Cericola had a team-high three groundball pickups and a caused turnover. She finished the regular season leading the PSAC in groundballs per game (3.72) and ranked fifth in caused turnovers per game (1.83).

Sophomore Ali Harclerode and freshmen Kathleen Mirgon and Julia Wise each recorded two groundballs apiece.
 
Frymoyer finished the season with eight or more saves in 14 games and double-digit saves in nine contests. She finished the regular season leading the PSAC in saves (183) and saves per game (10.76).
 
Senior Sheila Johnson did not play Saturday due to illness, but she and fellow seniors Garrie Grenfell and Courtney Kennedy wrap up outstanding careers at Shippensburg.
 
Grenfell finishes with 47 goals and 14 assists, recording double-digit goals in each of her four seasons.
 
Johnson and Kennedy finish as the 13th and 14th players, respectively, in school history to record 100 career goals. Johnson ends her career with 128 goals and 31 assists. She is tied for sixth in SU history in career goals with Carolyn Hales (1985-88). Kennedy finished with 102 goals and 53 assists.
