The Shippensburg University softball team won Game 1 in extra innings Tuesday at Kutztown, 2-1, before falling 9-7 in Game 2 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader at North Campus Field.

Shippensburg (11-14, 6-12 PSAC East) totaled nine runs on 18 hits and three errors while Kutztown (24-11, 12-7) finished with 10 runs on 16 hits and four errors.

Taylor Weisman delivered a game-winning single in the top of the eighth inning in Game 1 as senior
Liz Parkins allowed just one run on four hits while striking out seven in a complete-game effort.

Briana Giovenco put together back-to-back singles with two outs to set up Weisman for the go-ahead single.

The Raiders trailed 5-1 after three innings in Game 2 but scored four in the fourth and two in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead into the seventh inning. With two outs in the home half of the seventh, Kutztown hit a walk-off home run.

Giovenco finished the day 3-for-6 with two RBIs and a double while Justice finished 2-for-7 with two RBIs.

Tyler Thompson finished 3-for-7 with three runs, a double and a stolen base. Senior
Jessie Trammell hit a three-run home run in the nightcap.
