SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University softball team will host Domestic Violence Awareness Day on Friday, April 17, to honor the late Millersville student Karlie Hall and raise money for charity.
Â
SU and Millersville will play a 2:30 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference doubleheader at Robb Field. Fans are encouraged to wear purple, the color of the domestic violence awareness ribbon.Â
Â
A silent auction will be held during the games, giving the fans the opportunity to bid on a variety of baskets for charity.
Â
All proceeds raised will be donated to Randi's House of Angels, an organization based in Camp Hill that helps children who are exposed to and/or are victims of domestic violence.
Â
The founder of Randi's House of Angels, Nancy Chavez, will be in attendance and will throw out the honorary first pitch in Game 1. Chavez will speak about her charity between games and will be presented with a check from the Shippensburg University chapter of Tau Kappa.
Â
Tau Kappa is combining its proceeds from Project Prom Dress ($1,047) with contributions from the silent auction to donate to Randi's House of Angels.
Â
In addition, the SU Women's Center will have a table with items from the No More campaign.
