Men’s Basketball Outlasted on the Road by Lock Haven, 74-63

Abe Massaley totals 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals

The Shippensburg University men's basketball team held an eight-point halftime lead Saturday, however, was outscored by 19 points in the second half by Lock Haven and ultimately fell 74-63 in a vital PSAC Eastern Division clash held inside Thomas Field House.

Shippensburg (12-13, 8-13 PSAC) led 31-23 at halftime before Lock Haven (10-15, 10-11) stormed out of the gates in the second half, putting together a 37-13 run in the first 12:27 of the period.

Sophomore Abe Massaley filled the stat line with a team-high 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block, and a 6-of-6 mark at the free-throw line.

Senior Dylan Edgar scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds while freshman Justin McCarthur finished with 12 points, four assists, and a perfect 8-of-8 display from the charity stripe.

Junior Tony Ellis tied his season high with a team-best nine rebounds and scored six points including a buzzer beater to end the first half.

The Raiders edged Lock Haven in rebounds 36-34, however, the Bald Eagles took advantage at the free-throw line, shooting 30-of-33 (90.9 percent) while SU was 20-of-25 (80 percent).

Shippensburg hosts Cheyney on senior day in the regular season finale Wednesday at 8 p.m. inside Heiges Field House.

In order to make the PSAC playoffs, SU will need to win AND have West Chester beat Mansfield Wednesday. Shippensburg would have the tiebreaker because in that scenario SU would be 1-1 over West Chester and Mansfield would be 0-2 with each team 1-1 versus East Stroudsburg and 0-2 against Kutztown.
