The Shippensburg University volleyball team used a timely rally in the final set Friday to come back and beat Kutztown 3-2 (15-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-17, 17-15) in a road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at Keystone Arena.

Facing a 2-1 set deficit, Shippensburg (26-8, 15-6 PSAC) dropped the first four points of the fourth set before winning 25 of the next 38 points to even the match at two sets each. However, in the fifth and final set, Kutztown raced out to an 11-4 lead.

Once again, Shippensburg roared back, cutting the Golden Bear lead to 13-9 and then eventually tying the decisive set 14-14. After the teams split a pair of points, the Raiders won the final two points on kills by senior
Taylor Gottshall and freshman
Morgan DeFloria to take the match.

Annie Goerl each recorded 17 kills to the lead Shippensburg. Goerl also had 31 digs and three service aces. Gottshall added eight kills and a team-high five blocks.

Sophomore
Courtney Malott turned in a balanced effort with six kills, four aces and three blocks. Junior setter
Maura Nolan had 44 assists and 16 digs. Sophomore
Maria Peluso led SU with 33 digs.

The Raiders had to overcome a tough night swinging as they committed 39 attack errors. However, Shippensburg finished with 52 kills to Kutztown's 43. The Raiders also had 10 service aces.

SU will try to make it six straight wins Saturday at East Stroudsburg. The regular season finale will begin at 1 p.m.
