SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University football team hosts longtime rival West Chester on Saturday for Homecoming at SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. SU is encouraging a RED OUT for the game and asking everyone to wear red.

SU is 53-31-3 all-time on Homecoming, including a 3-3-1 mark against West Chester. The first known Homecoming game at SU was a 7-0 victory over West Chester back in 1925. More recently, WCU defeated SU in 2013 but the Red Raiders defeated the Golden Rams in 2009.

The Red Raiders, picked tied for third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Preseason Coaches' Poll, went 6-5 last season after winning three of their last four games. The winning season was head coach Mark Maciejewski's fourth in four years at the helm.

The Golden Rams, picked second in the PSAC Eastern Division Preseason Coaches' Poll, went 11-2 last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. West Chester started out this season with losses to Lenoir-Rhyne and Mercyhurst but has responded with four straight wins.

• West Chester had quarterback Pat Moriarty throw for a career-high 437 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Golden Rams over visiting Kutztown, 44-14, on Saturday afternoon at John A. Farrell Stadium. Tim Brown had eight catches for 99 yards.

Series History: Red Raiders vs. Golden Rams
• West Chester holds a 23-10-1 lead in the series history between the two teams.
• The Golden Rams have won nine of the last 11 meetings dating back to 2004.
• Prior to last year, each team ruined the other's Homecoming in successive years. In 2013, West Chester handed SU a 32-29 loss at Seth Grove Stadium. In 2012, Shippensburg overcame an early 21-0 deficit to defeat the Golden Rams, 42-24.
• SU won the inaugural meeting, 63-7, back in 1921. That score is 15 points more than SU has ever scored in the 32 other meetings with the Golden Rams.
