SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Redshirt-sophomore quarterback
Roman Jensen was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.
Â
Jensen was 16-of-26 for 242 yards and a career-high five touchdowns in Shippensburg's 35-27 win at Millersville. Jensen's five-touchdown game is the first by a Raider quarterback in more than five years, dating back to Brycen Mussina's effort on Sept. 18, 2021 (23-of-37, 350 yards, five touchdowns) in a 62-33 win at Clarion.
Â
On Saturday, Jensen's touchdown passes were 37 yards, 45 yards, 17 yards, 13 yards and 24 yards.
Â
The Raider offense totaled a season-high 414 yards despite a season-low 57 snaps, averaging 7.3 yards per play. Only two of Shippensburg's 55 non-kneeldown plays went for negative yardage, and both were just a loss of one yard.
Â
Saturday also marked the first time since Oct. 12, 2024 (at Millersville) in which SU did not allow a sack.
Â
Jensen is the first Raider to earn the award this season and it is the first weekly award of his career. The last Raider to be named the PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Week was
Andre Weidman on November 10 of last season after the Week 10 victory over West Chester.
