Lacrosse Falls 20-5 at Defending PSAC-Champion West Chester

Raiders held an early 2-1 lead before the conference heavyweight Golden Rams scored 10 consecutive

The Shippensburg University lacrosse team scored twice in the first six minutes on Tuesday afternoon at PSAC heavyweight West Chester but couldn't keep up with the defending conference champions in a 20-5 loss from Vonnie Gros Field.

Shippensburg (7-6, 4-4 PSAC) held an early 2-1 lead after goals from freshman Annemarie Cericola and junior Courtney Kennedy. West Chester (8-4, 5-4) – ranked nationally as recently as last week – then scored 10 consecutive and took a 12-3 lead into halftime.

Junior Sheila Johnson scored twice while senior Ashley Pope also added a goal and assisted on Johnson's second score. Cericola and freshman Max Barkley each collected a team-high three draw controls.

Senior Amanda Krok recorded team highs of four ground ball pickups and two caused turnovers while also adding a pair of draw controls and assisting on Pope's second-half goal.

Sophomore Ally Frymoyer made eight saves in net.

SU continues its road stint this weekend with games at No. 7 IUP (Friday at 3 p.m.) and No. 8 Lock Haven (Saturday at 4 p.m.).
