Box Score

The Shippensburg University lacrosse team limited No. 3 Limestone to just two goals in the second half of its Monday non-conference affair but could not overcome a six-goal halftime deficit, dropping a 10-7 decision to the Saints on a cold and rainy day in South Carolina.

Shippensburg (3-1) allowed a goal just 12 seconds after the intermission to trail 9-2 but fought back with five goals in the second half and yielded just one tally over the final 29 minutes of play. Limestone (8-0) was simply too much early on, responding to SU's opening goal at 28:32 with a six-goal run to establish control.

SU sophomore Ally Frymoyer was tested early and often but responded with a career-high 17 saves. Frymoyer made six more saves in Monday's game than her previous three games combined this season and posted an outstanding .500 save percentage – also a career best.

It is the ninth career game in which Frymoyer has been credited with 10 or more saves. Her previous best for save percentage was 42.9 percent in a 13-8 win over Gannon on April 20 (12 saves, 22 shots faced).

Junior Garrie Grenfell and senior Bennett Widlake each scored twice for the Raiders, with Grenfell also assisting on a second-half goal by senior Ashley Pope. Junior Courtney Kennedy added a goal and two assists, while junior Sheila Johnson had one goal and one assist.

The less than desirable weather resulted in more than 45 combined turnovers in the contest. Senior Liz French was once again stout defensively, leading the Raiders with six groundball pickups in addition to a pair of caused turnovers and two draw controls. SU was just one draw control (10-9) shy of Limestone in the contest, as freshman Amanda Frank also had two draw controls in Monday's game.

Freshman Annemarie Cericola did not get on the score sheet but was solid in the midfield, scooping up five groundballs and recording two caused turnovers. Kennedy, senior Carly Ruberti and senior Amanda Krok each had four groundballs.

Shippensburg remains on the road Wednesday when it faces Pfeiffer at 3 p.m.
