Goals from 12 different Raiders help SU improve to first 3-0 start since 2004

Twelve different Raiders scored on Friday including a four-goal performance from senior Bennett Widlake as the Shippensburg University lacrosse team defeated Wheeling Jesuit 18-5 from James LaRossa Stadium to start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2004.

Shippensburg opened the contest with a 7-0 run and held a 13-1 halftime advantage. Wheeling Jesuit (2-3) was unable to get on the scoreboard until there was 9:15 remaining in the first half and did not net its second goal until 12:25 remaining in the game. The Raiders led by as many as 15 at the 13:27 mark in the second half.

Junior Sheila Johnson and junior Garrie Grenfell had two goals and two assists each while senior Amanda Krok added two scores.

Freshmen Jamie Hills and Ali Harclerode each scored their first collegiate goal while Senior Ashley Pope and sophomore Tanisha Joseph netted their first scores of the season.

Senior Liz French contributed seven draw controls and two groundball pickups.

Seniors Kayla Dalzell and Liz French and freshmen Annemarie Cericola and Amanda Frank all scored one goal apiece.

SU will travel to Gaffney, S.C., to take on Limestone at 4 p.m. on Monday.
