Men’s Basketball Caps Off Wolf’s Weekend With Triumph Over Felician, 79-68

SU has four post double figures, including 18 from Hardy and double-double from Edgar

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior Jay Hardy led a group of four Raiders on Saturday with 18 points and Tournament MVP senior Dylan Edgar posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds as the Shippensburg University men's basketball team never trailed in defeating Felician, 79-68, to conclude the 2014 Wolf's Bus Lines Classic held inside Heiges Field House.

Edgar, Hardy and sophomore point guard Abe Massaley were all selected to the All-Tournament Team as Shippensburg (2-0) won its first two games of a season for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign.

Massaley had 17 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals; he finishes the opening weekend averaging 9.0 assists per game through two contests. Hardy followed up his 21-point performance from last night with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting; he is shooting 66 percent (16-of-24) through two games.

Freshman Justin McCarthur chipped in with 15 points and had four assists and three steals while committing just one turnover in 29 minutes. Fellow freshman Dustin Sleva had another great night, providing staunch defense in addition to six points, four assists and two rebounds without a turnover.

SU totaled 19 assists as a team and committed just eight turnovers, shooting 44 percent. The Raiders led by as many 19 points in the second half.

Felician (0-2) held the Raiders scoreless for the final 4:10 of the first half but only made up eight points from its 17-point deficit, as the Golden Falcons trailed 36-27 at the intermission. Five minutes into the second half, SU began a 14-4 run that gave it a 58-39 lead with 10:59 to play.

The Golden Falcons got 17 points and 11 rebounds from Jeyvi Miavivululu, who was also named to the Wolf's All-Tournament Team. The visitors were 0-for-12 from three-point range in the first half and finished just 2-for-18 (11.1 percent) from beyond the arc.

Shippensburg concludes a three-game homestand to open the season Wednesday night when it hosts Wilmington (Del.) at 7 p.m. from Heiges Field House.
