Women’s Volleyball Wraps Up Play at Marauder Clash with Five-Set Loss to LIU Post

Edwards posts 19 kills and 21 digs; Gottshall hits .471 with just one error, adds 10 total blocks

Box Score The Shippensburg University women's volleyball team dropped a five-set match to LIU Post on Saturday afternoon in the final day of the Marauder Clash tournament held at Millersville University. Set scores were 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 8-15.

After going the distance in a victory last night against Adelphi, the Raiders (2-1) were unable to hold onto a 2-1 set lead in the five-setter vs. the Pioneers (3-1) on Saturday.

Junior Jill Edwards led SU with 19 kills and 21 digs, while freshman Taylor Gottshall again had a superb blocking effort with five solo blocks and five block assists. Gottshall also added nine kills with just one hitting error and finished with a .471 hitting percentage.

Senior Andrea Heimsoth compiled 47 assists, 13 digs and three block assists, while fellow seniors Rachel Smicker and Erin Flick added 10 and seven kills, respectively.

Defensively, senior Lauren Murphy had 15 digs with freshman Natasha Gibble posting nine.

The Raiders will travel to Duluth, Minn. for two days of play at the UMD Classic beginning Sept. 7 at University of Minnesota Duluth.
