JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Shippensburg University wrestling team opened its weekend at the 2012 Super Region I Duals on Friday night by winning five of the eight contested bouts against the Braves of UNC-Pembroke in a 25-17 dual meet victory from Sports Center at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

Shippensburg (6-6) opened up an early 9-0 lead after a forfeit at 125 pounds and an 11-5 decision at 133 pounds for sophomore Cody Myers. It was Myers' first competition since the PSAC Championships in December.

The momentum of the match swung in SU's favor when the Raiders reeled off three consecutive wins beginning at 157 pounds – two of which featured bonus points.

Sophomore Kenny Stank pinned Kelvin Dixon in 3:49, freshman Neil Grudi recorded a 14-4 major decision at 165 pounds and freshman Luke Etter achieved a 5-2 decision at 174 pounds.

Sophomore Jacob Nale secured the dual meet victory with a 4-2 decision at heavyweight. It was Nale's first career victory in a regular season dual meet; he earned a victory by fall in an exhibition against Seton Hill last week and dropped a decision last year as a freshman.

On Saturday, Shippensburg will face No. 2 Newberry at 9 a.m. and American International at 11 a.m. from Sports Center.
