SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team snapped an eight-match losing streak on Thursday night from Heiges Field House with a straight-set victory over Cheyney University. All four of SU's victories this season have come in straight sets.
Shippensburg (4-12, 1-6 PSAC) had solid hitting on Thursday and tallied just six attack errors. Sophomore
Samantha Edwards led the Raiders by totaling eight kills without an error and hitting .727. Senior
Libby Woffindin contributed seven kills, six digs and two aces.
Sophomore
Tessa Bivens added six kills, seven digs and two solo blocks. Freshman
Alexandria Tubbs had a season-high five kills.
Senior
Lauren Bauer had seven of Shippensburg's 18 service aces. Junior
Andrea Heimsoth added five aces to go along with 26 assists, eight digs and four kills. Seven different players had at least one ace for the Raiders.
Set scores of the match were 25-8, 25-5 and 25-7.
Shippensburg continues its nine-match homestand at 11 a.m. Saturday against Alderson-Broaddus.
