NEW KINGSTOWN, Pa. – The Shippensburg men's swim team achieved 11 more scoring performances on the final day of competition from the 2011 PSAC Swimming Championships but had to settle for a fourth-place overall finish due to the strengths of the swims put forth on the last two days by Clarion and Edinboro.

Shippensburg got two more Top 5 finishes on Sunday. Sophomore Eric Naylor competed in the 1,650-yard “mile” freestyle for just the second time in his career during the morning session and his time stood up for a fourth-place finish. Naylor improved 96 seconds from his previous mile, posting a time of 16:29.18. He finished the weekend with two runner-up finishes in addition to his results in the mile.

Sophomore Sean Minford validated his fifth-place qualification in the 200-yard breaststroke with a fifth-place finish in 2:08.64. Senior Derek Yeager had a clutch performance in the consolation final – winning the heat in 2:08.65, while junior Evan Manning placed 15th in 2:13.85.

Additional clutch swims occurred in the 200-yard backstroke. Junior Joe Keefe won the consolation final with a career-best time of 1:55.57. Sophomore Stew Conard was right behind, finishing 10th with a career-best time of 1:57.08 and improving four seconds was his effort at last year's championships. Senior Josh Nyce took 15th place in 2:00.21.

In the 100-yard freestyle, sophomore Eddie LaNoue placed 10th with a time of 47.78 seconds while junior Shawn Robbins earned 15th place in 48.92 seconds. Freshmen Joey Borgioni and #R.J. Phiambolis# finished 11th and 12th respectively with time of 1:58.62 and 1:58.91 respectively. Borgioni also placed 12th in the mile.

The NCAA Championships will be held March 9-12 in San Antonio.
