SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior
Dane Lauber led a group of four Raiders in double figures on Sunday afternoon with 16 points off the bench as the Shippensburg University men's basketball team defeated Lock Haven in the second of two PSAC weekend crossover games from Heiges Field House, 80-59.
Shippensburg (4-5, 2-2 PSAC) won its third straight game and shot 50.9 percent from the field, tied for its second-best shooting game of the season. Every active Raider scored at least one point in the game.
Lauber was 5-of-10 from the field. His 16-point effort was his most since scoring 18 at Shepherd last season on Dec. 7. The senior also collected five rebounds to go along with four assists. In two games this weekend, Lauber totaled 28 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.
Freshman
Reggie Charles had his second-highest scoring game of the season, as he went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line and finished with 15 points to go along with a game-high three steals. Charles scored 11 consecutive points in the first seven minutes of the game to help SU race out to a 15-7 lead.
Senior
Will Royal had his second double-double of the season, going 3-of-8 from the field to score 11 points in addition to posting a season-high 12 rebounds. His rebounding total is the most in one game since grabbing 12 at Kutztown on February 6.
Senior
Jordan Stasyszyn scored 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting and senior
Craig Van Scyoc collected nine rebounds and two steals. Sophomore
Dylan Edgar continued his solid play with eight points, six rebounds and three assists.
SU took control from the start, jumping out to a 22-12 lead just 11 minutes into the game after a Lauber three-pointer. The Raiders scored 40 points in the paint and got 31 points from their bench players.
Lock Haven (0-5, 0-4) head coach Mike Nestor '00 made his return to Shippensburg after having spent the last 11 seasons as a Raider assistant coach. Nestor and former SU player and coach Brian Oleksiak caught up with their former co-workers and several SU players both before and after the game.
The Raiders travel to PSAC West foe Clarion on Friday for their first road contest of the season. The game is set for 7:30 p.m.
