Biography

2010-11 (Junior): Emerged as a leader at the guard position for the Raiders…started in all 26 of Shippensburg’s games and averaged 29.4 minutes per game…finished second on the team with 10.8 points per game…hit 50.4 percent from beyond the arc and would have led all of Division II in 3-point shooting with more attempts…also shot 50.5 percent from the field… averaged 4.6 rebounds per game…tallied 28 assists and 15 steals…led or tied for the team lead in rebounds on six occasions…led the team in scoring on four occasions…scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds in an 85-72 loss to Gannon on Jan. 9…corralled eight rebounds in an 84-47 win over Central Penn on Dec. 1 and again in a 72-63 loss to Millersville on Feb. 2.

2009-10 (Sophomore): Enjoyed a breakout second season with the Red Raiders…played in 27 games and made 12 starts during sophomore season…played 21.5 minutes per game…averaged 7.8 points per game and shot 42.6 percent from the field…led the team with 42 three-pointers…made 88.5 percent of his free throws…averaged four rebounds per game and picked up 16 steals…led the team with seven rebounds against Lock Haven in the season opener…scored a career-high 17 points while hitting a career-high five 3-pointers against Penn State Greater Allegheny…pulled in a career-high nine rebounds against Bloomsburg…dished out three assists vs. Washington Adventist.

2008-09 (Freshman): Served a valuable bench role during his first season with the Red Raiders…appeared in 26 games as a freshman, making one start… averaged 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game…scored a career-high eight points on two occasions, at Lock Haven and at West Chester…played in an average of 9.5 minutes per contest…shot 38 percent from the field and 30 percent from three-point range…converted all five of his free-throw attempts…compiled seven assists and two steals.

Shippensburg Area High School: Van Scyoc finished a prestigious high school athletic career as the all-time leading scorer at Shippensburg Area Senior High School with 1,258 points. Among his impressive career totals include 98 steals, 115 assists and 600 rebounds. As a senior, Van Scyoc averaged 17 points and nine rebounds after compiling an average of 18 points and nine rebounds as a junior for the Greyhounds. Over his career, he shot 52 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free-throw line. As a senior, he was named to the Public Opinion First Team, Carlisle Sentinel All-Sentinel First Team and the Harrisburg Patriot-News Big 15 First Team. Van Scyoc was also the starting quarterback for the Greyhound football team and compiled 1,177 passing yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior. He also participated in track and field and was a member of the student council.
