SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team lost an overtime thriller in its 2011-12 season opener on Saturday night to Charleston, 81-78, to wrap up the first day of this weekend's 2011 Wolf's Bus Lines Classic from Heiges Field House.

The Raiders (0-1) had an 18-point second half lead that slowly deteriorated at the hands of Charleston's (1-0) hot shooting. But a trio of seniors paced the Shippensburg, led by guard Jordan Stasyszyn and his career-high 23 points on 7-of-13 shooting.

Forward Will Royal and guard Craig Van Scyoc each earned double-doubles. Royal posted 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Van Scyoc had 13 points and 10 rebounds, highlighted by a game-tying 3-pointer with 32 seconds left in regulation that sent the game into overtime.

In his first collegiate game, freshman Reggie Charles started at point guard and led the Raiders with four assists in addition to 10 points.

SU will play West Liberty tomorrow night at 6.
