WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team concluded its 2010 season on Saturday afternoon from Serpico Stadium with an impressive 12-8 victory over No. 13 West Chester to mark SU's seventh game this season with double-digit runs. The Red Raiders split their doubleheader with the Golden Rams after dropping the opener 11-2.

Shippensburg (13-36, 7-17 PSAC East) got multiple hits from six of the nine starters in Game 2, including three from senior third baseman Kevin Scholly. The Red Raiders scored four runs in the first inning and took control of the nightcap with a five-run fifth inning that was capped off by a three-run homer off the bat of junior Jesse Smith. It was the third home run of the weekend for Smith.

After the loading the bases in the first with one out, Smith drew an RBI after getting hit by a pitch. Scholly singled home sophomore right fielder Cody Kulp and a bases-loaded walk by sophomore left fielder Tyler Uphouse plated sophomore Jimmy Miller. An RBI-groundout by junior catcher Kris Kullman put the Red Raiders up by four.

SU got a solo home run to left field by Kulp in the second inning but trailed the Golden Rams 6-5 through three innings. An RBI-single by Jimmy Miller in the fourth inning tied the score at 6-6. In the decisive fifth inning, the Red Raiders got runs on a fielder's choice and a passed ball before Smith's round tripper. Scholly added another RBI-single in the seventh.

Sophomore Ryan Rehman got the win in relief of freshman Josh Scott. Rehman allowed one earned run in four innings of work while striking out two hitters. Sophomore Ted Williams went the distance in the opener.

Kulp was 2-for-3 with two walks and four runs in the second game, while Scholly was 3-for-5 and Jimmy Miller was 3-for-4. Kullman, sophomore shortstop Ben Miller and junior center fielder AJ Czap each had two hits as well.
