Biography

2011 (Junior): Thrived as a middle infielder for the Raiders in his third season…earned an ABCA/Rawlings regional “Gold Glove” Second Team award…played 40 games at second base and committed just three errors – compiling a .983 fielding percentage through 173 chances…improved his fielding percentage by nearly 50 points and committed 10 less errors after playing a majority of his games at shortstop in 2010 and at third base in 2009…led the team with eight multiple-RBI games…tallied a team-high six sacrifice flies…had 12 multiple-hit games…tied the team’s longest hitting streak of the season at 11 games…started 50 of the team’s 51 games…ranked third on the team with 26 RBIs…clubbed two home runs…led the team with 12 doubles…stole eight bases…smacked a three-run homer in a PSAC East victory over Bloomsburg… competed during the summer with the Cooperstown Hawkeyes of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL).

2010 (Sophomore): Paced the Red Raiders with a .336 batting average in his second season with the Red Raiders…started all 45 games in which he appeared, including 34 at shortstop…batted from the leadoff spot in 31 games…also paced the club with 14 multi-hit games, 14 doubles, 41 runs and an 11-game hitting streak during PSAC Eastern Division play…produced multiple RBIs in four games…smacked three home runs and a triple to go along with 25 RBIs…drew 21 walks…had three sacrifice flies…hit by seven pitches…compiled a .433 on-base percentage and a .503 slugging percentage (.936 OPS)…slugged a walk-off, three-run home run – his second of the game – in a 9-6 home win over California (Pa.)…went 1-for-1 with three walks, three RBIs, a sacrifice fly and four runs scored in a road win at East Stroudsburg…totaled seven hits in the final series of the season against nationally-ranked West Chester…scored seven runs in a doubleheader split with Indiana (Pa.)…slotted second on the team with 75 total bases…competed during the summer with the Cooperstown Hawkeyes of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL)…totaled nine RBIs through 35 games…made 29 starts…hit four doubles…drew 14 walks…stole two bases.

2009 (Freshman): Emerged as a starting infielder for Shippensburg in his first year with the team due to his outstanding defense and his consistent work ethic…received ABCA/Rawlings Division II Atlantic Region First Team “Gold Glove” as an third baseman…started 29 games and made 38 appearances overall…each start came once the team reached the conference portion of its schedule…went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the PSAC Championship game against California (Pa.)…smacked a pair of solo home runs in a game against Kutztown… strung together a four-game hitting streak to finish the season…finished third among regulars with a .326 batting average…slugged .477…popped three home runs along with 13 RBIs…scored 16 runs...posted an impressive .419 on-base percentage…committed just four errors during the season…had six sacrifices.

Solanco High School: Posted a .533 batting average during his senior year with three home runs, eight doubles and three triples… finished his high school career by earning three letters while under the direction of head coach Dave Wimer…his team won the Lancaster-Lebanon League title as well as a district championship during his junior season…named to the East team of the PA Legion All-Star Game in 2008…also competed for club team PA Select under head coach Randy Gibson… was a member of the basketball team in high school. 

Personal: Full name is Benjamin Luke Miller…is the son of Jeff and Karen Miller…majoring in supply chain management…mother Karen attended Shippensburg from 1983-86 and was a member of the field hockey team.
