SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior Katie Pufnock and freshman Bre White each scored a pair of goals on Thursday afternoon from Mansfield as the No. 1-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team clinched at least a share of the PSAC Western Division title with a convincing 5-1 victory over the Mountaineers.

Shippensburg (15-0, 6-0 PSAC West) can clinch the Western Division championship outright on Senior Day this Saturday with a victory over the Mountaineers from Robb Sports Complex. Another victory would also match the longest winning streak in school history, set during the 2005 season.

Senior Amanda Strous was credited with the first goal of the game Thursday off an assist by Pufnock at 10:42. Pufnock scored at 19:51 off an assist from sophomore Sam Langone, and White rounded out the first-half scoring with an unassisted tally at 26:09.

In the second half, Pufnock gave SU a 4-0 advantage off a great pass from sophomore Ashley Taylor, who recorded her 10th assist of the season. Less than two minutes later, White scored again off a rebound.

Mansfield (5-10, 3-2 PSAC West) got its only goal of the contest with less than nine minutes remaining on a tip-in by Kristy Tutorow. SU sophomore goalkeeper Ciarra Delost made four saves to earn the victory.

As mentioned, No. 1 Shippensburg will host Mansfield at noon Saturday from Robb Sports Complex. Before Saturday's game, SU will honor Strous, Kristen Brooks and Emily Fulton in Senior Day festivities.
