SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University volleyball team concluded its competition at the second day of its home Raider Classic tournament but could not record a victory, dropping a straight-set decision to Alderson-Broaddus and a four-set match to Wheeling Jesuit.
Shippensburg (1-6) fought hard in both contests, coming within five points of two potential set victories against the Battlers [25-12, 25-21, 25-20]. Offensively, sophomore
Libby Woffindin led the Lady Raiders with five kills while senior
Kali Antolik chipped in defensively with 11 digs.
Against the Cardinals, the Lady Raiders bounced back after dropping the first set by winning the second set. However, Wheeling Jesuit earned the final two sets, as overall scores were 25-19, 20-25, 25-18, 25-15.
In the nightcap Woffindin concluded a solid weekend with 17 kills to go along with two block assists. Senior
Hannah Sorber added 11 kills while Antolik had nine kills and four total blocks.
Shippensburg will next compete in the Lock Haven tournament which begins on Friday at 5 p.m. Over the course of the weekend, the Lady Raiders will face Northern Kentucky, Stonehill, C.W. Post and Molloy.
