SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Senior outside hitter
Hannah Sorber fought off the flu long enough on Tuesday night inside Heiges Field House to record 12 kills, including seven in a second-set rally, as the Shippensburg women's volleyball team opened its Eastern Division schedule with a 3-0 win over Millersville.
Shippensburg (6-10, 2-3 PSAC) recorded victories by set scores of 25-14, 25-22 and 25-16. Sorber's thunderous attacks were a key in the crucial second set as the Lady Raiders rallied back to take control of the match.
Sophomore
Libby Woffindin continued her strong play with a team-high 13 kills on just one error for a hitting percentage of .500. Senior
Kali Antolik added six kills while totaling four solo blocks and one block assist. Freshman
Rachel Smicker continued her emergence with three solo blocks, one block assist and one kill.
Senior
Colleen Toomey added six kills and helped the defense with a team-high 10 digs. Freshman
Andrea Heimsoth was the primary setter for Shippensburg and delivered 36 assists while recording eight digs of her own.
The Lady Raiders will return to action next Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Hagerstown Community College from Heiges Field House.
