MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Senior outside hitter
Hannah Sorber led the way offensively for the Shippensburg University volleyball team with 14 kills on Tuesday night from Pucillo Gymnasium but the Lady Raiders dropped a 3-1 decision in PSAC Eastern Division play to homestanding Millersville.
Shippensburg (8-16, 4-9 PSAC) dropped the opening two sets 25-22 and 25-18 before rallying to take the third set, 25-23. The Marauders then rallied for a 25-22 victory in the fourth set for the victory that brought the two teams even in the division with four total victories in PSAC play.
In addiition to her 14 kills, Sorber had one solo block and two assists while hitting .282. Senior middle blocker
Kali Antolik had nine kills and 10 digs while hitting .300 and senior outside hitter
Colleen Toomey matched that production with the same amount of kills and digs but hit just .053 from the floor.
Sophomore
Libby Woffindin led the team with four total blocks (two solo, two assists) while freshman setter
Andrea Heimsoth contributed 38 assists to the cause. Overall, the Lady Raiders hit .132 and served three aces but relinquished nine to the Marauders.
Millersville (12-21, 4-11 PSAC) had three players total double digits in kills, including a team-high 14 from Ami Killinger. Senior Meredith Sinback had 10 kills, 12 digs and 35 assists for a triple-double.
Shippensburg returns to action on Friday at 6 p.m. with a pair of PSAC Eastern Division matches against Cheyney from Heiges Field House.
