Fisher, McNeil Are Individual Winners But Women's Swimming Falls to Crimson Hawks

SU also wins two relays but drops 141-116 decision to Indiana (Pa.)

INDIANA, Pa. - Sophomore Amy Fisher won her second individual event in two days on Saturday afternoon and senior Molly McNeil earned an individual victory but the Shippensburg women's swimming team was defeated in a conference dual meet by Indiana (Pa.), 141-116.

Shippensburg (2-6) began its day with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of freshman Kate Johnson, freshman Rachael Ballard, senior Mandi Foltz and senior Theresa Simcic posted a time of 1:53.10 to win for the second straight day.  

Later on, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Sarah Bratman, junior Michelle Edmiston, sophomore Anna Kinard and freshman Nicole Capozzi earned credit for a victory with a time of 1:44.25.

Individually, Fisher won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.65 and she finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.73. McNeil won the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:51.70 and also placed second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.82. 

Among the runner-up finishers on Saturday for Shippensburg were junior Whitney Garner in the 100-yard breaststroke, Foltz in the 50-yard freestyle, Ballard in the 200-yard breaststroke and senior Noelle Knupp in the 500-yard freestyle.

Shippensburg will conclude its regular-season dual meet schedule when it makes a 4,130-mile trip to Fairbanks, Alaska to complete the home-and-home series with the Nanooks of Alaska-Fairbanks on January 30 and 31.
