SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University softball team extended its longest winning streak in three seasons to 13 games by sweeping the Warriors of East Stroudsburg on Sunday afternoon at Robb Field by scores of 7-1 and 6-2.

The Lady Raiders (21-11, 4-0 PSAC East) totaled 19 hits in Sunday's doubleheader and finished the week having allowed just two earned runs through the 55 innings pitched this week for a team earned-run average of 0.25.

A bloop single from freshman Moira Johnsen opened the scoring in Game 1 and a 1-0 lead blossomed in the bottom of the fourth when the Lady Raiders scored six runs with two outs to take control of the game.

With two outs and none on, junior Chelsea Carson and Johnsen singled to bring up junior Rachelle Wedell. The junior catcher delivered, sending a single up the middle to score Carson. Senior Liz Good walked to load the bases, and senior Sarah Stengl smacked a two-run single through the left side to plate Wedell and Johnsen.

The rally continued with freshman Hope Cornell lining a single up the middle to score Good and Stengl, and junior Lori Knopf crushed a shot into the right-center field gap that scored Cornell.

East Stroudsburg (6-17, 0-4 PSAC East) took the lead in Game 2 after plating two unearned runs in the top of the first on Candace Pastor's two-run single. The Warriors held the lead until the bottom of the fifth, when the Lady Raiders scored five runs to transform a 2-1 deficit  into a 6-2 lead.

The Shippensburg fifth began with a double from Cornell and an RBI-single from Knopf that quickly tied the score at 2-2. After a pitching change and a botched sacrifice attempt, Carson walked to load the bases, and senior Amanda Bardo stepped up from the flex position to bat and drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Lady Raiders a 3-2 lead.

Wedell reached on a fielding error by the shortstop that advanced each of the runners one station and gave Shippensburg a 4-2 lead. Following a fielder's choice at the plate for the second out, Stengl was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Cornell drew another bases-loaded walk to bring the Lady Raiders to their final margin of victory at 6-2.

After the two unearned runs in the first Knopf settled down and allowed just one hit over the final six innings to improve her mark on the season to 7-4. Senior Dani Shields earned her 10th victory of the season in Game 1 by allowing one earned run and three hits while striking out six.

Shippensburg won a school-record 25 consecutive games from March 7 - April 16, 2005 and began that year 34-1. The Lady Raiders will seek to continue this year's streak on Wednesday with another PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader at Robb Field. Shippensburg will host Bloomsburg and the first pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
