SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Red-shirt junior split end Mike Harris and red-shirt senior safety Jason Stone were named the annual Shippensburg VFW Offensive and Defensive Players of the Game, but their performances were not enough in a 21-0 loss to No. 4 Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon at Seth Grove Stadium.

Shippensburg (3-6, 2-4 PSAC East) played its Homecoming game amidst a steady rain that began three hours before kickoff, resulting in a muddy playing surface that kept both teams running the football throughout the contest. Despite the conditions, the Red Raiders did not commit a turnover, marking the second time this season the team has achieved the feat.

Bloomsburg (9-0, 6-0 PSAC East) was able to earn the victory on the strength of three big plays, two provided on scrambles out of the pocket by quarterback Dan Latorre. The junior signal caller finished the day with a career-high 125 rushing yards on eight carries and two touchdowns.

The Huskies opened the scoring when Derrick Price, the PSAC's leading rusher, broke a couple of tackles and scampered 37 yards to paydirt in the first quarter to cap off a 7-play, 50-yard drive. Price finished with 111 rushing yards on 21 carries.

On a third-and-8 from the Shippensburg 48-yard line with 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Latorre dropped back to pass, avoided the rush, and then bolted down the field and finished the play in the end zone. With less than a minute remaining in the half, Latorre broke a 47-yard run for a touchdown to give the Huskies a three-touchdown lead at the half.

Red-shirt freshman Dave Chervansky took over at quarterback for Shippensburg in the second half after red-shirt junior Chad DiFebbo completed 1-of-9 passes for two yards in the first half. Chervansky finished the game completing 10-of-21 passes for 124 yards.

Harris finished with 73 receiving yards on seven receptions. Red-shirt freshman Roshaan McCain was the team's leading rusher, gaining 51 yards on eight carries. His 33-yard run was the longest play of the day for the Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders completed a pass to the 10-yard-line in the final seconds but not get any closer to the end zone before time expired. Neither team recorded points in the second half.

Defensively, Stone led all players with 10 tackles (including seven solo) along with a sack. Sophomore linebacker Riley Bowen made nine tackles and forced a fumble. Shippensburg has now forced a turnover in every game this season.

Shippensburg will close out its home schedule next weekend with Senior Day on Saturday, November 1 in a PSAC Eastern Division matchup with Cheyney. Game time is set for 1 p.m. West Chester defeated the Wolves 60-6 on Saturday to set up a battle for the PSAC Eastern Division title next weekend.
