ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The Shippensburg men's swim team, competing in its second meet in two days, earned a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay but dropped a 116-85 decision to the Division-I Bonnies of St. Bonaventure on Sunday afternoon inside the Reilly Center.

Shippensburg won the final men's event of the afternoon with strong swims from senior Gabe Oropollo, junior Nate Ryan, sophomore Tim Smullen, and senior John Miller. The quartet posted a time of 1:29.79 and bested the 'B' team of freshman Richard Deley, junior Brian Taylor, sophomore Josh Nyce and freshman Shawn Robbins by more than three seconds.

It is the second consecutive relay victory for Shippensburg. The Red Raiders won the 400-freestyle relay yesterday against Canisius with Robbins swimming in place of Miller.

Smullen nearly came away with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle event but finished one-hundredth of one second behind Clayton Coleman of St. Bonaventure, who took first in 49.96 seconds. Taylor earned second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.76 seconds, while Nyce swam the 200-yard IM in 2:04.57.

Shippensburg will return to action on November 1 when the team travels to Clarion for a meet that begins at noon.
