Nakita Gearhart joins the Shippensburg University volleyball staff for the 2017 season as a social equity coach.
Gearhart arrives at Shippensburg after a distinguished four-year career with perennial Division III power Juniata. With the Eagles, Gearhart finished as a three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American, three-time Landmark Conference Most Valuable Player (MVP), four-time AVCA All-Region performer and four-time Landmark Conference First Team All Star.
Her impressive career totals include 1,069 career kills, a .320 hitting percentage, 300 digs, 280 blocks and 70 service aces. As a 2016 AVCA First Team All-American, Gearhart finished with career highs of 299 kills, 84 digs and 34 aces. She was also named to the 2016 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team after slamming 29 kills and hitting .345 during the NCAA Tournament.
A native of Waynesboro, Gearhart is a 2013 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. With the Blue Devils, Gearhart was a three-time Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) ‘AA’ All-State selection and a four-time Capital Division First Team performer who earned Capital Division Player of the Year honors as a junior in 2012.
Gearhart earned her bachelor’s degree in biology/pre-med from Juniata in 2017.
